Mike Mignola, Christopher Golden, Peter Bergting ‘Baltimore: The Cult of the Red King’ Review

Baltimore Cult of the Red King

Written by: Matt Molgaard

I’ll be the first to admit that for all the years Baltimore has been around, I’ve very seldom found myself buried in the books. It’s not that they hold little intrigue, it’s more a case of a cramped schedule and decision making. I’ve got my favorites, and I’ll always battle to squeeze them in. Even if it means I miss a beauty (at least temporarily) like Baltimore.

For the record, Baltimore: The Cult of the Red King all but guaranteed that this is a book that I will no longer leave sitting on the sidelines. Lesson learned!

Prepare for a battle with a coven of manipulative witches who prey on the weakness of man to help succeed in their evil bidding. Expect hellish wraiths hungry for souls. And keep an eye on the mysterious, immortal Lord Baltimore, who takes a long journey to tangle with and bring an end to the Cult of the Red King and anyone or thing affiliated with this hazardous group.

In other words, expect Hell on earth and a war that will produce a slew of casualties, distress and true heartbreak. Baltimore: The Cult of the Red King is enthralling and magnetic, refusing the reader the option of putting the book down.

This is more A-class work from writers Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden. Peter Bergting also does a stellar job of bringing this supernatural tale of deception and loss to eye-popping life. A trio who work together, you ask? Yes, Mignola, Golden and Bergting most certainly fit that bill.

It’s another home-run from the great Dark Horse Comics, and you can pre-order it right here.
