10 Awesome Short Films Based on Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark!

Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark

Written by: Matt Molgaard

A great deal of us grew up reading Alvin Schwartz’s (and Stephen Gamme, who crafted those paralyzing illustrations) Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series. They were simple, often cliché and very familiar… but they were terrifying… and oh, the whole package… The artwork, the gloom of it all… well, it’s hard to put into words just how special this set of books was. And, for that matter, still is!

We’ve recently learned that Guillermo del Toro will be tackling CBS Films’ adaptation of these tales, and that inspired us to read a few of these old tales. But while I perused the net, I found myself returning to youtube time and again. Eventually youtube is where I lingered longest, listening to narrative videos with great acting and strong animation to further bring these stories to life.

Believe this: Some of these films are simply stunning.

It seemed only right to share a few of the cooler animated films with you. So, babble be gone! Make way for 10 awesome videos inspired by the mesmerizing Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark!
