Are You a Poet? Want to See Your Work Published? Want to Win a Free Copy of New York Times Bestseller, Libba Bray’s ‘The Diviners’ to Boot? ENTER!
I’ve got a copy of New York Times bestselling author, Libba Bray’s new hit, The Diviners here waiting to go out to one lucky recipient. This one looks gorgeous, is crafted by a superb talent, and needs a nice new home!
It sounds awfully damn cool too!
Do you believe there are ghosts and demons and Diviners among us?
Evie O’Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City–and she is pos-i-tute-ly ecstatic. It’s 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult.
Evie worries he’ll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene, Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer.
As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfurled in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds. A chorus girl named Theta is running from her past. A student named Jericho hides a shocking secret. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened….
Printz Award-winning and New York Times bestselling author Libba Bray opens a brand-new historical series with The Diviners, where the glittering surface of the Roaring Twenties hides a mystical horror creeping across the country.
I’ll be giving this one away soon. But I had a wild thought strike my overactive brain as I began prepping another giveaway. What if I turned this giveaway into a cool device? What if I used this as a jump-off for a cool poetry collection? I’m a fan of dark poetry. In fact, I love it. However, poetry doesn’t necessarily draw the crowd that straight forward novels do. In fact, there aren’t too many entities willing to step up and invest the work it requires to publish a collection of poetry.
I want to change that.
I’m going to publish an eBook of the finest dark poetry I can gather, and this is your chance to showcase your stuff.
Here’s how this is going to work.
If you want a copy of The Diviners, and you want a chance to see your poetry published, you’ve got to do a few simple things.
First – and most challenging – is write some fantastic poetry. Length or structure of the poem does not matter. It can be 40 words. It can be 400 words. It can be a Haiku. It can be song lyrics. If it falls into the poetry realm, I’m interested.
Second, you’ll email your piece of poetry to hnrcontests@live.com. Fill the subject line out as follows: AUTHOR NAME – POETRY TITLE – “POETRY COLLECTION”.
Each contributor can submit up to three poems.
I’ll gather the best of the best, and select a winner. The winner will receive the copy of The Diviners, in addition to being featured in the book of poetry. No money is up for grabs for this specific contest. I’m still reeling from the moolah that’s gone into the Christmas collection (which should be up on Amazon CRAZY SOON! We’re working FINAL details of the graphic design out!). However, those who submit fantastic work will see their poetry published in our first poetry collection, which we’ll plug like wild beasts to ensure your work reaches the masses.
The deadline for submissions is January 3rd. I’ll announce a winner on January 10th in addition to a full list of all authors who earn the write to be published.
Expect the eBook itself to see publication between January 17th and January 20th. It’s the perfect way to usher in the New Year, and just one of a handful of books we’ll be publishing in 2014.
If you’re interested in seeing your poetic work published, and you want this book – which you most definitely should – then get to writing, or rifling through your collection of poetry, because the game is on!
hI, I sent in three poems (one per e-mail is that correct?) becausethe subject requires one title. hope you got them. thanks. -angelo
