Terry M. West ‘Car Nex’ Review

Written by: Matt Molgaard

Terry West’s new collection, What Price Gory? is tapped for release in the near future. As a part of the promotional campaign Mr. West is rolling out one of the collection’s short stories as a free download on Amazon (go grab it right now, right here) for the next few days, and it’s definitely worth a look.

Car Nex tells the story of a small group of friends hounded by a supernatural presence that happens to tote an affinity for human flesh. While the monster serves as the story’s primary antagonist, it’s West’s reliance on character examination that drives this one forward. There are a few personalities here that are afforded major attention, and their blossoming fear and unique idiosyncrasies make for an engaging piece.

There isn’t too much more to say about this one, as the story eats up less than 13 pages and any more detail is likely to spoil the impact of Car Nex’s climax. However, brief as it may be, this tale successfully invokes a strong urge to check out the remaining tales tucked away in What Price Gory? If West can uphold this quality from beginning to end, fans will be gifted a quality genre collection from one of today’s respected prospects.

Do yourself a favor and download Car Nex, you’re highly likely to find the drive to pursue the forthcoming What Price Gory?

  1. Good to see you got this up ….Terry West has quite the sense of humor and an excellent style of writing…and hey who can knock free? Just me…the old hippie…vitina

  2. Like I don’t have enough to do, now I’m gonna have to download that story and read it because it sounds REALLY GOOD! I love monster stories! 🙂

Oh…except Amazon won’t download to anyone who lives in “Africa” (I live in Egypt) – not even free stuff. Is there any other way to download the story? Smashwords maybe?

  3. Lexa, message me on Facebook and I will send you a PDF
