I always get excited when I talk about this book. It’s one of the most entertaining books I’ve read.
Nothing about 100 year old vampires lusting after teenage girls, nothing about the brooding woe is me pasty sparkly crappy vampire.
Nothing but lusting after the “Red Candy”, as the little girl who turned into a vampire liked to put it.
An ancient relic turns mortally ill Mortimer Moorecook into the latest incarnation of a vampire. Not the vampires that have the elongated teeth for fangs, no, no, no. I’m talking 32 razor sharp super long teeth that fill the mouth.
There is humor, there is gore, there is action; there is everything that you could ever want in a book such as this. There are tributes paid to past horror writers and those of pop culture in general if you look close enough as well.
Each author it seems tries to out-do each other, and while everything comes together very well, there is an air of competition about them, which makes this even better.
Taking place in a hospital has all the characters locked into one place trying to escape. They aren’t really trying to figure out how people got the way they were, or why, it’s all about a race to get the hell out.
Perhaps my favorite character is the balloon twister dressed as a clown. Just read it to understand.
Nothing is going to jump out and say “masterpiece” here, but that is perfectly okay. You’ll walk away from this book like you would a summer blockbuster movie. Enjoying the ride for what it was and not caring what the critics think.
I really don’t want to go into the book too much as far as the plot goes because this should be something to experience. As much as you can’t explain the way you feel when you come off a roller coaster, you can’t explain the way you feel when you are done reading this.
If you like your gore over the top, and the action furious, then pick this up. You won’t be disappointed.
Order Draculas right here.
