HNR Writing Contest! Submit Your Best Monster Themed Story, Win $100 & a Marquee Feature

100-Dollar-Bill1

SUBMISSIONS CLOSED

I know there are a lot of writers out there eager to get their work featured on a stable platform. We want to help. While HNR isn’t remotely near as large as it will be, we’ve grown exponentially in the last six months. Our reader base is strong, our views are consistently increasing and advertisers are taking notice. Getting your story featured in the marquee of HorrorNovelReviews certainly won’t hurt your cause. A clean bill in the pocket won’t hurt either.

Here’s the gist: We want to read your best monster story, but it’s got to be short. No novella submissions, no graphic novel submissions, just a short story, all about monsters… of some sort. I will personally read each and every submission, narrow the field to five front-runners, and recruit the voices of two additional published authors to get their opinions and votes.

The winner, as noted, will see his or her story featured in the first slide of the front page marquee for 30 days in addition to banking the $100 prize money.

Here are the rules and details:

Stories must be 100% original. No re-publications, no plagiarizing. Maximum word count is 2,500 words. Your story cannot exceed 2,500 words or you’re out of the running, plain and simple.

Triple edit your piece, the fewer typos and errors, the better it looks for you.

Remember monsters are the theme here, so give us monster stories!

Previously published authors are more than welcome to submit their twisted tales.

To submit a story: send a .doc file of your story with an additional intro letter (this doesn’t have to follow the exact guidelines of a cover letter) that provides a brief synopsis of the story, your name, story word count and your personal Paypal address, to hnrcontests@live.com (subject line should read “contest submission”). You must also include an image (no smaller than 500×700) to promote with your story, so if you aren’t handy with graphics, get in contact with a buddy who has at least basic Photoshop skills.

You must have Paypal in order to be paid, as we won’t be issuing any checks, cash or money orders. Strictly Paypal.

By submitting your story you permit HorrorNovelReviews.com to publish your story in digital (as well as potential print) format.

AGAIN! Email address to submit your stories: hnrcontests@live.com (subject line should read “contest submission”)

The Deadline

All stories must be submitted by March 1st, 2013. The winner will be notified via email and announced on the site March 20th, 2013. The winning story will be made available (in the marquee) on the site the same day. The winner will be paid on Friday, March 22nd.
